I LOVE TACOS! My shrimp taco recipe is overdue. I am excited to share with you my “secret” ingredient. So I use a Berbere spice mix! Berbere is a hot pepper seasoning used in many Ethiopian dishes. I think it adds a unique kick to the dish. Plus I like blending different cultural flavors.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb shrimp
- 4 tbsp. olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp Berbere
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- Salt and Pepper TT
For taco assembly:
- Corn tortillas
- Chopped Cilantro
- Avocado
- Radishes
- Salsa
- Red onion
- Feta Cheese
Instructions:
Devein and remove the tail of shrimp
In a bowl, combine the ingredients for the seasonings. Coat shrimp with mixture. I like to coat it all in a zip loc bag
(I added a tsp of liquid smoke for the first time). Place to the side.
In a skillet or nonstick grill pan lightly heat garlic in oil
Add seasoned shrimp and cook 2-3 minutes per side over medium heat.
Once shrimp is done cooking, you are ready to assemble your tacos. I used radishes, avocado, salsa, cilantro, and feta cheese. (I slightly brown corn tortillas before assembling)
optional drizzle with freshly squeezed lime. ENJOY!
